Calvert County
High iron content (3–15 ppm) in Calvert County well water accelerates bladder degradation in pressure tanks. Iron deposits build up inside the tank and on the bladder, causing premature failure. We recommend replacing the pressure tank at the same time as the iron filter when both are needed — it is more cost-effective than two service calls.
Anne Arundel County
Acidic water (pH 5.8–6.5) in Anne Arundel County is corrosive to pressure tank fittings and the tank shell. We see more corrosion-related tank failures in Anne Arundel County than in Calvert County. An acid neutralizer upstream of the pressure tank significantly extends tank life.
