Offset Joints
Soil movement shifts pipe sections out of alignment, creating a partial obstruction and an entry point for roots. An offset joint looks like a step inside the pipe on camera.
Orangeburg Pipe
Orangeburg pipe (compressed wood pulp) softens and collapses over time. The camera reveals the characteristic oval deformation and soft walls of deteriorating Orangeburg before it fails completely.
Grease Buildup
Years of grease accumulation narrows the pipe diameter. The camera shows the extent of buildup and whether hydro jetting or pipe replacement is the appropriate solution.
Cracked or Broken Pipe
Cracks allow groundwater to infiltrate the sewer line and roots to enter. The camera identifies crack location, length, and severity — critical for repair planning.
Cast Iron Corrosion
The camera reveals the extent of internal corrosion, scaling, and wall thinning in older cast iron sewer lines — essential information for deciding between repair and replacement.

A standard residential sewer camera inspection takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on the length and accessibility of the sewer line. We access the line through a cleanout — either inside the home or outside near the foundation.
Do I get a copy of the camera footage?
Yes. We record the inspection and can provide footage on request. We also walk you through what we found on screen during the inspection — you see exactly what we see in real time.
Can a camera inspection find the exact location of a problem underground?
Yes. Our cameras include a locator transmitter that allows us to pinpoint the exact location of any problem from the surface — depth and horizontal position. This allows targeted excavation without unnecessary digging.
Should I get a sewer camera inspection when buying a home?
Absolutely. Standard home inspections do not include sewer line inspection. Homes built before 1990 in Southern Maryland commonly have cast iron, clay tile, or Orangeburg sewer lines that are 40–60 years old. What is Orangeburg pipe and how do I know if I have it?
Orangeburg pipe is a type of sewer pipe made from compressed wood pulp and pitch, used from the 1860s through the 1970s. It deteriorates over time, deforming and eventually collapsing. Homes built before 1980 in Southern Maryland may have Orangeburg pipe. A camera inspection identifies Orangeburg pipe immediately — it has a distinctive oval or collapsed shape and fibrous texture. There is no repair for Orangeburg pipe; it must be replaced.
