Why Does My Hot Water Smell Like Sulfur?
Hot water that smells like sulfur (rotten eggs) but cold water doesn\'t usually means the anode rod in your water heater is reacting with sulfur bacteria in your water. The magnesium anode rod produces hydrogen sulfide gas as it corrodes. The fix is usually replacing the anode rod with an aluminum/zinc rod and shocking the water heater with chlorine. If the smell persists, you may need a whole-house sulfur filter.
