Reverse Osmosis System Installation — Annapolis, MD
An Annapolis family on city water wanted better-tasting drinking water and was concerned about chlorine and PFAS. We installed a 5-stage reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink with a dedicated drinking water faucet.
The Problem
An Annapolis family on city water contacted us about their drinking water. They were spending over the cost of the repair per month on bottled water because they did not like the taste of the tap water. They had also read about PFAS contamination in Maryland water supplies and wanted additional protection.
Our Diagnosis
We reviewed the Annapolis water quality report. The water met all EPA standards but contained detectable levels of chloramines (used for disinfection), trihalomethanes (disinfection byproducts), and trace levels of several PFAS compounds. A reverse osmosis system would address all of these concerns and eliminate the need for bottled water.
The Repair Process
- 1Assessed under-sink space and plumbing configuration
- 2Installed 5-stage RO system: sediment pre-filter, carbon block pre-filter, RO membrane, post-carbon filter, remineralization filter
- 3Installed dedicated 3/8-inch supply line from cold water supply
- 4Installed drain saddle on P-trap for concentrate discharge
- 5Installed 4-gallon storage tank under sink
- 6Drilled countertop and installed dedicated RO faucet
- 7Flushed system and tested TDS (total dissolved solids) — reduced from 280 ppm to 12 ppm
The Outcome
The family eliminated their bottled water purchase immediately. TDS reduced from 280 ppm to 12 ppm — a 96% reduction. The remineralization filter adds back beneficial minerals for taste. System produces approximately 75 gallons per day — more than sufficient for drinking and cooking.
Key Takeaway
A reverse osmosis system pays for itself in 12–18 months for families spending the cost of the repair+ per month on bottled water. The 5-stage system with remineralization produces water that tastes better than most bottled water.

"We recently had Deep Dive Plumbing Maryland out to our home in Annapolis after we suddenly started noticing sewer flies throughout the house. They truly lived up to their name and performed a full "deep dive" diagnostic inspection instead of just treating the symptom. During their inspection they discovered our sewer pipe connected to the toilet had been leaking into the basement for quite some time. The team explained everything clearly, provided upfront pricing before starting any work, and even gave us a military discount which was greatly appreciated. They were professional, respectful, extremely knowledgeable, and took the time to make sure the repair was done correctly."
